Fairmont Palliser’s Pastry Chef, Arin Hiebert, was recognized with the Tourism Industry Association of Canada’s (TIAC) 30 Under 30 Achiever Award this week. This award recognizes up to 30 individuals, 30 years of age and younger across Canada, working in tourism and their contribution to the development of a vibrant and professional industry.
As an accomplished pastry and Red Seal Chef, Hiebert completed courses at The French Pastry School and Chocolate Academy of Chicago in Illinois— in addition to graduating with distinction from Assiniboine Community College in 2012. Arin has worked exclusively with the Fairmont brand for his 10+ year career, working his way up to lead Pastry Chef at Fairmont Palliser. In addition to creating many of the delectable desserts on the Fairmont Palliser’s Hawthorn menu, Hiebert oversees the creation of the ever-popular Afternoon tea menu that changes seasonally.
“Arin is an incredibly talented young chef and pivotal member of the food and beverage team here at Fairmont Palliser. We are so proud of the growth he has shown both in his career and as a person,” says Ken Flores, General Manager at Fairmont Palliser.
In addition to his position at Fairmont Palliser, Arin was a finalist on the Food Network television program, Spring Baking Championship, and owns his own pastry company in Calgary. Arin is a proud and active member of the Calgary LGBTQ+ community. He led the Fairmont Palliser team float, dressed as a drag queen, in September's Calgary Pride Parade.
