Celebrating new beginnings: Members of the Institute for Canadian Citizenship’s ‘Canoo’ app receive offer at London Drugs
London Drugs continues its dedication to communities across Western Canada in a new partnership launching July 20 with the Institute for Canadian Citizenship (ICC)’s Canoo Access Pass to welcome and celebrate newcomers to Canada.
The number of permanent residents who become Canadian citizens has plummeted in the last 20 years, with only 45.7 per cent of permanent residents who had been in Canada for less than 10 years becoming citizens in 2021, compared to 75.1 per cent in 2001. Many new immigrants to Canada struggle to feel connected to the people and culture of Canada, and the ICC’s goal is to change that.
ICC’s Canoo app is “Canada’s largest welcome network”, designed to make the transition to Canada a positive one for newcomers. Canoo is the only app that gives newcomers free VIP access to over 1,400 of Canada’s best cultural and outdoor experiences along with exclusive deals from well-loved brands. The goal is to unlock the best of Canada for newcomers so they feel confident about their decision to move to the country and become Canadian citizens. Canoo app’s membership is available to those who are over 18 and a newcomer to Canada within their first five years as a Permanent Resident, OR have received their Canadian citizenship less than 12 months ago.
“We are delighted to forge this partnership with London Drugs to thank newcomers for their decision to immigrate to Canada,” said Daniel Bernhard, CEO for the ICC. “Moving to Canada comes with many challenges as newcomers adjust to their new homes, build networks, and get what they need to thrive in Canada. This partnership reflects our shared vision that a prosperous Canada is one where newcomers thrive and stay.”
As a testament to the commitment of both organizations to foster inclusivity, London Drugs will provide an exclusive offer from July 20 through August 31, 2023. When Canoo app members spend $50 on eligible purchases in-store, they will receive a $20 London Drugs gift card (one per visit). This initiative seeks to ease some of the burden often faced by immigrants during their settlement into Canada, allowing newcomers to access essential products at a discounted rate.
“We are proud to partner with the Institute for Canadian Citizenship and their Canoo app to support new immigrants in Canada,” said Clint Mahlman, president and COO of London Drugs. “We understand the challenges newcomers face, and through this offer, we hope to help newcomers to Canada feel welcome and celebrated. This partnership exemplifies our commitment to fostering inclusivity, supporting our communities, and assisting newcomers in their journey to establish a bright future in Canada.”
By leveraging the power of technology, plus the unique products and services that London Drugs is known for, such as passport photos and full-service pharmacies, both organizations are committed to actively contributing to the well-being and success of immigrants and new Canadians.
New immigrants to Canada are encouraged to download the Canoo app to take advantage of the exclusive offer from July 20 – August 31, 2023. To download and register for the Canoo app, people may visit canoo.ca.
