Hotel invites bereaved families and those receiving pediatric palliative care at the hospice to enjoy a stay at Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre’s Canuck Place Suite
Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre has donated over $16,372.37 this year to Canuck Place Children’s Hospice as part of an ongoing charity partnership. This brings the total amount donated over the past 12 years to over $215,000.
Canuck Place Children’s Hospice is the only pediatric palliative care provider in British Columbia and Yukon for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. The organization offers a variety of services at no cost to families, including grief, loss, and bereavement counselling, as well as end-of-life care. They also offer medical respite support, pain and symptom management, a provincial 24-hour Clinical Care Line, and art, music, and recreation therapy. The charity relies largely on donors and supporters to keep its programs running.
New this year, Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre is expanding its support to Canuck Place by inviting bereaved families, or families with a child currently in care, to stay in the Canuck Place Suite. Twice a year - in the spring and fall - Canuck Place will hold a draw to select a family to enjoy a complimentary stay.
Pan Pacific Whistler’s $215,000 plus donation is a result of 10 percent of net revenue for every stay in the Village Centre's Canuck Place Suite. Here, two bedrooms and bathrooms, a gourmet kitchen, and separate living and dining areas welcome up to six guests for a resort-style adventure. Visitors are treated to breathtaking mountain views from the oversized private terrace and complimentary continental breakfast delivered daily to the suite.
“Canuck Place is an incredible organization, providing care to over 830 families on the program,” says Julie Lanteigne, general manager of Pan Pacific Whistler Hotels. “This year we were honoured to present the cheque in person at Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre to Camara Van Breeman, nurse practitioner for Canuck Place and Gaia – the PADS Accredited Facilities dog at Canuck Place. We are pleased to play a small role in the support that the hospice provides to kids and their loved ones and look forward to welcoming families to the Canuck Place Suite”.
“We are so grateful for our incredible partnership with Pan Pacific Whistler,” says Denise Praill, chief executive officer at Canuck Place Children’s Hospice. “As a loyal supporter of Canuck Place, not only have they generously donated funds to support pediatric palliative care, but their offer to host Canuck Place families twice a year is so impactful. It truly offers our families a chance to spend time together and create lasting memories.”
Ideally situated in the heart of the village, Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre Hotel offers contemporary pet-friendly, all-suite accommodations to suit your every need, plus complimentary continental breakfast daily. At day’s end, the hotel’s heated outdoor saltwater pool, two hot tubs, and dry cedar sauna – all backgrounded by breathtaking mountain views – welcome guests to unwind and truly rejuvenate. For those looking to kick back and imbibe, the signature cocktails and relaxed vibe at the Raven Room will provide moments of serene reprieve and enjoyment.
